Meet Steve

Meet Steve Owens, born and raised in Grand Rapids. Steve graduated from West Catholic High School in 2007. After graduation, Steve enlisted in the Marine Corps and served two tours in Afghanistan. Since leaving the Marine Corps, Steve has received a B.S. in Economics from Grand Valley State University and an M.A. in Economics from the University of Tennessee.

Following his academic achievements, Steve embarked on a career in the public sector, serving as an analyst in the Appellate Courts within the Federal Judiciary for four years. This experience, coupled with his academic background, equipped him with a unique perspective. Steve then transitioned to the private sector, further broadening his understanding of the economic landscape.

Steve's journey has seen him contribute to both the public and private sectors, gaining a wealth of experience along the way. This diverse background has given him a unique understanding of the challenges facing cities like Grand Rapids and a deep appreciation for evidence-based policymaking.

Steve's campaign is all about putting people first. He believes local government should be accountable to all residents, not just a select few. His vision for Grand Rapids is one of innovation, progress, and opportunity for all.

With his diverse background, forward-thinking mindset, and passion for service, Steve Owens is the kind of leader our city needs to move forward and thrive.

In his free time, Steve is an avid reader of history and current events, and enjoys long walks with his dog, Ke$ha.
